Working at SSI

Working here is different, and you can see it in everything we do – from pride in our orange logo to our focus on continuous improvement, and the fun that we try to bring to even the most serious projects. The diversity in our workplace creates a unique and inclusive environment that makes you feel at home no matter who you are. Our strong leadership invests the time to help and care for all “SSIers”. Our commitment to teamwork is apparent at all SSI locations, creating an environment that’s equal parts welcoming and productive. We know that people do their best work when they’re happy and healthy. That’s why we foster a healthy environment and encourage everyone at SSI to make work fun.

Former Military

wounded-warriorWe only hire the best. That’s why over 60% of SSI’s workforce is former military. You’re proud of your service to our country, and we’re proud to have you on our team. Many of our managers and team members have been where you are and know how to help. So you can rely on us to ease your transition. Remember, you aren’t a number to us, you’re an important part of our present and future, and we want you to grow with our team while you continue to serve our nation. You can also count on us to honor the sacrifices of our Nation’s veterans.

What Our Employees Say…

Lynn/Bill,

I just wanted to tell you that I had a wonderful experience working for this GREAT company.  I only wish I could have started my post Navy civilian job journey with SSI sooner.  I have not felt as comfortable or supported in any job or position that I have ever held.  You are both wonderful professionals with leadership styles that complement each other, which only enhances the success of SSI.  Thank you for your outstanding leadership and the genuine concern you show for each of your employees.  As I have learned from 30 years of Naval experience, the tone for an organization is set from the top and is transferred down.  You’ve set a tone within SSI that promotes an environment for employees to think freely but not to think twice to ask for advice or help.  Happy people like their jobs and you both go out of your way to make sure your employees are the “right fit” for the positions they fill.   I truly believe SSI has established itself here at Patuxent River and will continue to prosper under your leadership.  Leaving SSI for a Government position was probably the hardest decision I have made in 20 years…..it’s hard to leave a good thing.  I also want you to know that I will continue to seek out potential future quality employees for SSI.  SSI is one company that I will always carry a torch for!  I’ll miss the comradery…especially the Christmas parties and  the Blue Crab games.  Bill, thanks for the great going away event and the super “Cowboy Monkey” picture!  Every time I look at that hairy little “buckaroo” on his trusty steed, I will fondly think of Lynn and Bill….the best bosses ever.

God Bless America!

V/R,     Keith “Monkey Boy” Olson

SSI is the 5th company that I’ve worked for since I left the Navy in 2004 and I will tell you that I’ve never felt more support and appreciated than I do each day working with all of you.  The atmosphere in which we work is simply the most conducive and effective environment that I’ve ever been associated with.

I honestly believe that SSI was the Best company that I have worked for in the last 17 years of being a contractor, you have taken the time and resources to support your team in every way, and that gives us the ability to perform at our most efficient at all times without having to worry about “am I getting laid off tomorrow”, or “does my medical cover all of the things that can go wrong” etc…

It has been an absolute pleasure to have worked with such professionals as yourselves. I can’t count the number of times I was told how fortunate I was to be an employee of SSI by people familiar with the pedigree of the company. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to meet some of you in person on this email but I have heard nothing but great things about everyone with the exception of Bill (just kidding!). Most notably, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet the President and CEO of this great organization during my tenure with SSI.  Lynn, from personal accounts of you from those that I did meet from within SSI and from your genuine emails, I feel like I have known you for many years. Your warm-heartedness approach towards the members of your team and their families, your engaging leadership style, and your forward thinking vision for the company are all attributes that should be the template for all CEOs to emulate. I intentionally mentioned the family part first because I truly believe that emphasis on family comes first with you and it is infectious throughout SSI. From my first encounter with Toby, my intentions were to represent SSI with the utmost of professionalism in every assignment and in every task. As I complete my last day as a member of the SSI team, hopefully I have accomplished my goal and I hope that I have contributed to the overall success of SSI.
